How a kit gets designed
Every kit starts with a question: "What would a kid actually want to build?" Not what looks good on Instagram (although our kits do look great on Instagram, I won't pretend otherwise). What makes a child sit down, focus, and feel proud of what they made.
The Fairy Garden came from watching my own kids play. They'd arrange rocks and sticks in the backyard, calling it a "fairy house." I thought: what if I could bottle that impulse — the world-building, the tiny details, the careful arrangement — and turn it into something repeatable, giftable, and mess-controlled?

The sourcing story
I'm picky about materials. Annoyingly picky, if you ask my supplier contacts. Here's why:

I test every component myself before it goes into production. Not a sample — every batch. If the moss is too dry, it gets replaced. If a figurine's paint chips too easily, I find a better supplier. There's no quality control department here. It's just me, at a table, checking things.
The assembly process (it's all by hand)
There's no factory. There's no assembly line with conveyor belts. There's a studio in Katy, Texas, and there's me — Tanu — hand-packing every kit.

- The globe, base, and seal components are checked for cracks or defects.
- The unicorn figurine is inspected — paint intact, no loose parts.

- Glycerin, adhesive, and decorative elements are packaged separately with clear labels.
- An instruction card with step-by-step visuals goes in.
- A personalized name tag is handwritten and tucked inside.
- Everything goes into branded packaging, sealed, labeled, and ready to ship.
That process takes about 8-10 minutes per kit. Multiply that by a batch of 50, and you get a very long afternoon. But the alternative — mass production from a warehouse — means losing the quality checks, the personal touches, and the handwritten tags that make each kit feel like it was made for one specific kid. Because it was.
